TAURUS (Vrishabha) (30°00'-60°00')

Taurus, the second zodiacal sign, symbolized by a bull, encompasses three quarters of Krittika, the entirety of Rohini, and half of Mrigashirsa. In Greek, Taurus means Bull, while in Vedic astrology, it's known as Vrisha, signifying a bull and connoting piety, leadership, and excellence.

Taurus plays a crucial role by providing the material foundation for the emerging divine spark, veiling its latent spirit nature and facilitating the evolutionary unfoldment. This sign instills a thirst for creative sensation, a reflection of inherent divine potential, and introduces differentiation between spirit and matter.

Under Taurus, the egos acquire the necessary energy for objectification and materialization, allowing them to assume diverse forms and play various roles. It marks the beginning of manifest consciousness and the differentiation of sound vibrations. Taurus is described as feminine, earthly, and fixed, emphasizing its role in materiality, growth, and multiplication.

The fixity of Taurus refers to its non-commencement of the terrestrial journey, where egos undergo inner changes, experiencing emotions and desires. Venus rules Taurus, immersing egos in materiality to provide wisdom underlying various aspects of manifestation. Yama, the presiding deity, represents the shadowy nature of terrestrial existence.

Taurus, the objective counterpart of Aries, operates within the realm of subjectivity. It generates directed passion and emotional urges, focusing on uniting with matter, but the goal and direction remain unclear. Symbolized by a bull, Taurus is associated with bull-worship, signifying procreative potential, divine effulgence, energy, and leadership. The ritual of bull-worship reflects the preparation of egos for their terrestrial journey and the provision of material building blocks for expression at different levels of manifestation. Taurus, still in the realm of subjectivity, aspires for procreation, multiplication, and the preservation of pristine nature with effective support from the three asterisms within its extension.
