DRAWING ROOM

DRAWING ROOM

Drawing-Room:

1. The preferred place for drawing-room in a house is in the north-east, north and east zones of the house. In small houses and apartments, the room can also be made in the brahmasthana. Don't use heavy furniture in the brahmasthana.

2. The drawing-room should be airy, well lit, well-ventilated and tastefully decorated. Gloomy and ill-lit corners cause depression and a lackluster lifestyle. Use floor or table lights whenever necessary to spread the light throughout the room.

3. Arrange furniture so that people can move freely. The room should feel warm and welcoming. This can be achieved by having comfortable chairs or sofas, sufficient light, pleasant pictures and artifacts. You can create family togetherness by hanging up a large family picture in the living room or in the family room. Make sure that all family members are included in the picture.

4. Place the heavy furniture, sofas, etc., in the south, west or south-west corner of the room. Do not keep the south-west corner empty. More open space should be kept in the north or east side of the room.

5. Keep the centre of the room empty. Heavy loads, centre tables or artifacts should not be placed in the centre of the room. Instead use square coffee tables alongside the sofas or chairs.

6. Chairs and sofas should be arranged in a way that the people using them do not have their backs to the door. People sitting in these positions feel insecure and lacking in support.

7. Do not place couches or chairs under exposed beams as these overhead beams can be cruel, stressful and create discord. Two bamboo flutes hung from the beam act as a remedy if there is no alternative but to place the furniture under it.
