Magha extends from 120° 00' to 133° 20' (0° 00' to 13° 20' Leo) the asterism is presided over y the Pitris, Vedic immortals considered to be the progenitors of the human race; its planetary rulership is assigned to Ketu, the mysterious descending node of the Moon.

The primary guna, tamas, imparts inertia, while the secondary and tertiary attributes, rajas, suggest that one experiences great contradictions and an urge to make life purposeful. One aspect of Magha produces tremendously swift action, while other parts of it put the brakes tendency, directing the energy towards stasis.
