RAHU

RAHU - the Cosmic Law

There is much similarity between Rahu and Saturn: what Saturn tries to activate from the objective side, Rahu does from the subjective side. Rahu and Ketu work in unison, and it is significant that together they constitute a serpent which is referred to in various scriptural texts. The most important point that students of astrology can draw from this is the elusive nature of their impact. Predictions concerning Rahu and Ketu can never be made with certainty. The only decisive judgment be made is that their repercussions are felt on the psychological and psychic planes of existence.

Rahu is half-bodied. The completion of the effect it perpetrates must be experienced through Ketu. When Rahu begins to provoke radical changes in the psyche of the Individual, that psyche must attain its original pristine nature.

In all religions, the serpent symbol is used in esoteric allegories. Generally speaking. the serpent symbol stands for spiritual knowledge, the Serpent Fire. Rahu stands for secret wisdom as well as for the initiator. When an individual passes through initiation, he undergoes immense pain; his whole life seems to melt away.

Rahu's association with any planet is bad. With the Sun and Moon, it cuts off the sources of life and illumination. With Jupiter, it destroys the very nature of the planet and almost makes him a malefic; Jupiter emphasizes religious rituals and traditional philosophy while Rahu destroys the past to arouse a radically different kind of illumination. Unless the person is prepared for this downpour, he acts in an unpleasant and socially unapproved manner. Mars will accentuate the tendencies of Rahu in its malefic as well as its spiritualizing process, but it will intensify the process so acutely it becomes unbearable. With Saturn, Rahu will make one's life miserable both at the objective and subjective levels.

Rahu's placement in the Third, Sixth, Tenth and Eleventh houses is supposed to be better than others. Bad for siblings, Rahu in the Third will give much courage for enduring injustices done to the individual. Rahu posited in the Sixth house overcomes impediments in regard to health, service conditions, food, litigations, debts, theft, and even the ill-fame caused by other planets: Rahu in the Sixth makes smooth sailing for the individual In the Tenth house, Rahu can conquer the world, either with physical prowess, intellectual power, or with spiritual devotion Rahu in the Eleventh house is highly propitious for acquiring renown; a favorable Rahu in the Eleventh will help the individual in attaining his aspirations, whether those aspirations are material or spiritual Rahu, who gained the nectar despite the watchfulness of the gods, must somehow or other satisfy the desires of the individual.

Rahu has a great affinity with material forms of existence and Ketu with spiritual Together they churn the life of the individual with a view to manifesting the Divine Plan meant for him and the powers latent in him. The eternal law which regulates life on earth is expressed as the Law of Karma. It enables the individual to enjoy the gifts of life as much as his destiny permits. The individual is denied these gifts only when his karma is ordained. The two Nodes of the Moon function like two sentinels of the Lords of Karma, restricting or granting gifts according to law. The two Nodes, therefore, form the axis around which the entire life of the individual revolves. Rahu first immerses man in affluence, then leads him into frustration, while Ketu gives the humiliation which arouses spirituality. Both lead the individual to contemplation of life's experiences, and, through the deeper experience of the life-force, one acquires the secret of heaven.
