Ashlesha is ruled by the serpent God. This is the ninth nakshatra of the zodiac, spanning from 16°-40' to 30°-00' in Karaka house. It is the birth star of Ketu.

It has the power to inflict with poison (visasleshana shakti). Its basis above is the approach of the serpent. Its basis below is shake and anxiety. These three together bring about destruction of the victim.
