Dhanishta is ruled by the Asta - Vasus, the Gods of abundance. It is known as the "Star of Symphony". This nakshatra is owned by the fiery planet Mars. This nakshatra spans from 23°-20' in Capricorn to 6°-40' in Aquarius.

Its power is to give abundance and fame (khyapayitri shakti). Its basis above is birth. Its basis below is prosperity. These three give the power to bring people together.

Dhanishta allows us to bring the resources of people together. In this way it builds upon the connections of Shravana and makes them more practical. The Vasus are the deities of the Earth that give abundance on the earthly plane. They are manifestations of Agni or the sacred fire and show the gifts that it can distribute.

The symbol is a drum and tabla. Dhanistha has two meanings in it - one is Dhana (riches) and the other is Dhvani (sound). Dhanishta builds upon the connections of Sravana and makes them more practical.
